SheCARE is a charitable organization that was founded alongside SheCar to help women who are overcoming serious hardship and unable to afford a vehicle. There is an application process and tiered award levels. If approved, applicants are either given a vehicle or provided financial assistance toward the purchase of one. In all cases SheCARE cars are exempt from purchasing fees.
“The primary mission of SheCARE is to help women who are recovering from hardship by assisting them with the purchase of a reliable and safe vehicle to help them secure or maintain education, employment, childcare, and overall safety in their daily activities.” Athena Staton
The Orlando Union Rescue Mission (OURM) has been privileged to formulate a community partnership with SheCARE. The organization joins OURM in serving others in need and has paid it forward by rewarding deserving women a safe and much needed form of transportation they can call their own. SheCARE realizes the value of helping others, and we are thrilled to share a common goal of assisting those needing a hand up.

Your generosity makes it possible for women in need to acquire a reliable car to return to their job or school, and to safely transport their children and family. The most effective way to help those we serve is through financial gifts.
Cardinal Color Group recently selected SheCARE to be the recipient of our monthly charitable initiative. We had donation requests ranging from animal groups, theatre venues and others. In this time of turmoil, we know that SheCARE will pass on this donation to someone in need quickly.

The reason why I donated my Mustang to SheCARE is that I knew that the organization would use it wisely and to help someone in an expedient way.

“Maybe it was having an adorable little sister like Athena, in any case, I always loved children and teaching. I spent the first 15 years of my career teaching preschool-aged children in exceptional education programs. From this experience I learned to form supportive relationships with parents to encourage the best outcomes for their sons and daughters.
I was offered many opportunities to present at conferences and soon found myself with an additional part-time position as an… adjunct professor in early childhood education. After receiving a doctorate in Curriculum Development and Systemic Change from Nova Southeastern University, I continued teaching graduate students in early childhood special education while working full-time as the childcare director of a teen parent program in Sarasota, Florida. These 17 years were perhaps the most valuable in shaping SheCARE because I learned that there are SO many families facing economic and social challenges, and there are not so many resources for them.
I often unburdened this distress to my sister Athena, whose tender heart always responded with concern. She and her husband, Jeff, gave generous donations to the program’s children and families during the holidays and throughout the year.
So it happened very organically, over a glass of wine, we were discussing how owning a car would greatly help a few of my teen mothers find a way out of poverty. The conversation turned to business ideas and we quickly agreed SheCARE would be the perfect partner for a car dealership catering to women!
Currently I work as the Executive Director of SheCARE while also teaching technology skills to children with disabilities. Together, Athena and I are committed to improving the lives of young women and giving hope to their children.”
